Register for Farm Bureau state convention
Indiana Farm Bureau’s annual state convention will be held Nov. 15 to Nov. 17 in Indianapolis at the Indiana Convention Center. This year’s theme is “Leading the Way.”
Indiana Farm Bureau is the state’s largest farm organization, with more than 73,000 farmer members and 182,000 associate members.
Rob “Waldo” Waldman, a retired Air Force lieutenant colonel and fighter pilot, will offer the keynote address Sunday, Nov. 15, during the 6:30 p.m. general session. Waldman will share “Never Fly Solo,” a presentation on building trust and working as a team to achieve goals.
Each county Farm Bureau will send representatives to the business meeting on Nov. 17, where they will elect Indiana Farm Bureau’s president for the next three years. Don Villwock, Indiana Farm Bureau’s current president, has decided to retire from the state position and is seeking the presidency of the American Farm Bureau Federation. The delegates also may discuss policy issues that have arisen since the main policy-setting delegate session in August.
Other convention highlights:
County and membership awards will be presented during the 6:30 p.m. session on Sunday, Nov. 15.
Sessions exploring INFB’s policy advisory groups take place in the morning on Monday, Nov. 16.
Breakout sessions will take place on Monday, Nov. 16, at 2:45 p.m. and 4 p.m. Topics range from policy to understanding food labels to being a brand ambassador for the organization.
Villwock’s final address as state president takes place on Nov. 16 during the 6 p.m. general session.
Former Congressman Lee Hamilton will speak to convention attendees on Tuesday, Nov. 17, during the 7:45 a.m. breakfast session.
An Organization Day reception for legislators takes place on Tuesday, Nov. 17, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
The convention sessions are free and open to anyone; there is a cost for meals, which must be purchased through the online registration system. Registration, articles on specific convention activities and a complete schedule are available on the convention website, conv.infb.org.
