4TH LAUREN'S BURG HILL 5-MILE/5K JUNE 16

 

LAWRENCEBURG - The fourth annual Lauren's Burg Hill 5-Mile/5K Run/Walk moves from its former August date to Saturday, June 16, with a new race course this year.

Five-Mile Run starts at 7:22 a.m., with the 5K Run/Walk starting at 7:24 a.m. in downtown Lawrenceburg, with the traditional finish on the 22-yard line at Dick Meador Stadium/Neary Memorial Field on the Lawrenceburg High School campus.

Proceeds will benefit Lauren's Fight For Cure, in honor of former LHS and Mount St. Joseph University basketball player Lauren Hill, in order to provide scholarships, research and assistance to families afflicted by pediatric brain cancer.

This year's event will partner with the City of Lawrenceburg and Whiskey City Regatta, also held on the weekend of June 15-16.

The course will have a few minor changes, including relocating the starting line to downtown. Participants should check the Stuart Road Racing web site for race day parking locations and more information.

Online registration is available now at the Stuart Road Racing web site at www.stuartroadracing.com.

Pre-registered entry fee (before June 14, or postmarked by June 8) is $30, including an official race t-shirt. Entry includes a custom tech t-shirt, medals for division winners and a chance to win cash prizes.

Entry will be $40 at the time of packet pickup or with race day registration, with t-shirt included if available. Checks should be payable to Lauren's Fight For Cure.

Supporters also can choose the $22 sleep-in option in the way of donation to the cause.

Packet pickup will be available Friday, June 15, at Ivy Tech College on Walnut Street from 5:15-7 p.m.

Race day packet pickup will be from 5:45-7:15 a.m. at Lawrenceburg City Hall on Walnut Street.

Awards will be given to the overall male and female winners and top three finishers in each age group for runners and walkers.

Age groups for male and female runners include 8 & under, 9-12, 13-16, 17-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-69 and 70 & over.

Race walkers age groups include 19 & under, 20-39 and 40 & over.

The course will close 90 minutes after the start of the race, at approximately 9 a.m.
